Why is there a sketch of Dave Growl here instead of some great images you ask. Well once you read the ridicules Photo Waiver the FOO FIGHTERS are asking photographers to sign, you will understand why I told their Publicist NO THANKS! I would rather stay home and watch Pawn Stars…and I did. Unreal that “some” of these managements think that they are giving photographers a privilege to shoot their bands and that we photographers should be more then happy to sign away all of our rights to our images. Ummm I don’t think so. In truth, Everytime a photographer shoots photos that are published,or someone writes a published story. From a blog to a newspaper to a magazine, in the end their band gets Free Publicity…Also what they are not understanding is that their photo waiver really doesn’t mean anything. According to International copyright laws, unless I was to physically go to the U.S. Copyright office and sign over the rights of certain images and have a notary of the public stamp the rights transfer document. I don’t think their photo waiver is a document that would stand up in court. With that aside. For some of us photographers this is our sole means of making money. It is not only a 25 year career for me, but like any other artist, this is my work and I’m not just gonna hand over the rights…just to shoot 3 songs. People like Lars Ulrich(metallica) are quick to jump up and scream about the copyrights of their work.. He doesn’t want to give away his music work for free. So why should I give my photography work away free? No Thanks!!
